Thank You Parents

I want to thank all parents that came into Parent teacher conferences to speak to me about how your student is doing in class. It shows how much you care about your student's education in English, math, and science.

English:

We are just completing our unit on Antarctica/Arctic. Next we are going to be reading about the solar system. Students will not only be learning about facts about different planets but they will learn how these planets compare and differ from our planet Earth. There will be different stories posted on my website as well as schoolgy.com for you to read at home as well as in the class.

Spelling words this week have to do with the Solar System. The following power point presentations show the different spelling words for the week.

Math:

Students are finishing learning about word problems. They have been working on reading word problems searching for words that tell them to either add or subtract. When a problem asks you for a total, you know you must add. When a problem asks for the difference you know you must subtract (with the larger number on top) when setting up the problem.

Next we will be reviewing fractions.

Science:

In science we are also learning about the solar system and will be doing an research project as well as an oral report on a Astronomer. More information will be provided later on in the week.
